The article discusses the United Nations (UN) Millennium Development Goals (MDGS), with a particular focus on efforts to continue work on the MDGS or to develop new priorities following the MDGS deadline in 2015. According to the author, the MDGS helped to increase support for international development at large, and were relatively successful because they were limited in scope. Details on a cost-benefit analysis of various development issues such as malaria, fossil fuel subsidies, and HIV/AIDS performed by the think tank the Copenhagen Consensus Center are also presented.
