One of the salient effect of the globalization of health care is "medical tourim". In this essay I will present some data that depicts the scope of the phenomenon, analyzing its variants and the ethical and legal challenges that medical tourim pose. In the second part of the article I will focus on what I have labeled as "circumvention tourism", and more specifically I will deal with three of its most controversial expressions: reproductive tourism, abortion tourism and assisted suicide tourism. For that matter my goal is to show that the originating State may have good reasons to criminalize circunvention tourism in some circunstances.
