O artigo trata da relação estabelecida entre o cinema hollywoodiano e a história da arte, em sua construção de pontes didáticas que possibilitam o interesse do estudante pelas imagens pictóricas. São mencionadas peculiaridades de alguns filmes, a fim de apontar as estratégias pelas quais o repertório da cultura ocidental é apropriado pelo cinema.
Evidencia-se o imaginário coletivo construído a partir de apropriações históricas como Cleópatra, bem como são elucidadas algumas peculiaridades das biografias filmadas, explícitas nos filmes de Van Gogh e Frida Kahlo. São também citados alguns filmes, tais como Batman e Um lugar chamado Notting Hill, nos quais as pinturas assumem um papel relevante no desenvolvimento da narrativa. Em tempos onde a distância entre o repertório da arte parece se distanciar do interesse do aluno, busca-se, através de uma mídia popular, ou seja, o cinema de massas, esclarecer que a cultura atua como elemento diferencial para uma melhor compreensão e fruição da vida cotidiana.
The article deals with the relationship established between Hollywood cinema and the teaching of art history by building bridges that increases the student's interest by pictorial images. Peculiarities of some movies are mentioned in order to point out the strategies by which the repertoire of western culture is appropriated by cinema. It is put into evidence the construction of collective imagination by historical appropriations as Cleopatra, as well as are elucidated some peculiarities of filmed biographies in such films like Van Gogh and Frida Kahlo. There are also references to movies as Batman and Notting Hill, where the paintings take a significant role in the development of the narrative. In times where the distance between the repertoire of art seems to distance itself from the student's interest, it tries to, through popular media or mainstream cinema, clarify that culture functions as a differential element for a better understanding and enjoyment of everyday life.
