El sector agroalimentario es un sector estratégico en la economía española y debido a sus características y especificidades goza de una especial protección por parte de los poderes públicos. En los últimos años, y debido a la crisis económica, las relaciones entre los agentes de la cadena alimentaria, se han tensado, aflorando muchas deficiencias estructurales que estaban latentes. Precisamente, por ese motivo, desde el Ministerio de Agricultura, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente, se ha promovido una iniciativa legislativa, pionera y novedosa, que pretende mejorar el funcionamiento de la cadena alimentaria y lograr una cadena alimentaria más eficiente y competitiva, capaz de dar respuesta a las exigencias cambiantes del nuevo consumidor surgido en los últimos años.
The agri-food sector is a strategic sector in the Spanish economy and due to its characteristics and specificities; it is afforded special protection by the public authorities. In recent years due to the economic crisis, relations between the players on the agrifood chain have become tense and many underlying structural weaknesses have surfaced. Precisely for this reason, from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, a new and pioneering legislative initiative has been promoted, aimed at improving how the agri-food chain works and achieving a more efficient and competitive agri-food chain, capable of responding to the changing demands of the new consumer that have arisen in recent years.
