En el sistema constitucional español, pese a la prohibición constitucional de mandato imperativo, el protagonismo de los partidos políticos en la representatividad política a través de mecanismos como la �unidad de voto� hace necesaria la determinación de ciertos límites a la potestad de éstos. El Tribunal Constitucional ha intentado establecer dichos límites para delimitar el rol de los partidos en la relación: electores-representados-partidos.
In the Spanish constitutional system, despite the constitutional ban on mandatory, the role of political parties in the political representation through such mechanisms as the �united vote� requires the determination of certain limits to their power.
