Este artículo se propone reflexionar sobre el estado del campo de estudios de la historieta latinoamericana.
Los debates sobre las literaturas dibujadas ameritan el desarrollo de una atención específica y, al mismo tiempo, interdisciplinaria. Se trata de dialogar, con dos áreas privilegiadas: la historia de los medios y la historia cultural. Las literaturas gráficas constituyen un tema relevante para estas disciplinas en tanto lenguaje privilegiado para indagar la sociedad y sus representaciones visuales. De allí que el propósito es reparar en ciertos rasgos de un objeto vacante de las ciencias sociales cuya presencia insoslayable y creciente promueve la constitución de un área de estudios consistente, programática y anclada en contextos históricos precisos.
This article proposes to think on the state of the area of Latin-American comic studies. The debates on the drawn literatures deserve the development of a specific and interdisciplinary approach. It is a question of establishing a dialogue within two privileged areas: the history of media and cultural history. The graphical literatures constitutes a relevant topic for these disciplines as a privileged language to investigate the society and its visual representations. Therefore the intention is to focus on certain features of a vacant object of the social sciences, which certain and increasing presence promotes the constitution of a consistent area of studies, programmatical and anchored in historical precise contexts.
