Bajo una metodología cualitativa, positivista e interpretativa, a través del método del caso se ha buscado el objetivo de presentar un modelo de gestión estratégica de costes portuarios en un puerto de España, demostrando que si la información para la gestión de diversos objetos de coste es oportuna y fiable, han de conseguirse mejoras notables en la toma de decisiones. Asimismo, el artículo pone de manifiesto el salto cualitativo y cuantitativo que ha dado la contabilidad de costes de la Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia (APV). Esa contabilidad se ha revisado en estos últimos años y se ha adecuado como herramienta de gestión y toma de decisiones. Se ha diseñado un prototipo inicial del modelo para el cálculo de costes, con la finalidad de mejorar la información de gestión a fin de cubrir la insuficiencia de la contabilidad financiera como único instrumento de gestión; crear una estructura de costes que ayude al desarrollo de los presupuestos; incrementar la información de costes para la planificación estratégica, así como disponer de un marco de gestión común de costes para todas las Autoridades Portuarias (AAPP) del Sistema Portuario de Titularidad Estatal (SPTE) español, con el fin de realizar un benchmarking que sirva como herramienta de mejora interna.
Under a qualitative methodology, positivist and interpretative, through method of the case the objective has looked for to present/display a model of strategic management costs in a port of Spain, being demonstrated that if the information for the management of diverse objects of I pay for he is opportune and trustworthy, have to obtain remarkable improvements in the decision making. Also, this article shows the qualitative and quantitative jump given by PAV (Port Authority of Valencia) in cost accounting. Cost Accounting has been revised in recent years and it has been adapted as a tool of management and decision making. An initial prototype of the model for the calculation of costs has been designed, with the purpose of improving the management information in order to cover the deficiency of the financial accounting as the only instrument of management; to create a structure of costs which helps the development of the budgets; to increase the information of costs for the strategic planning, as well as to have a frame of common management of costs for all Port Authorities (PPAA) of the Spanish System Port (SPS), with the purpose of making benchmarking as a tool of internal improvement.
