Las legislaciones de los países de Latinoamérica y el Caribe (LAC) han estado en su mayor parte influenciadas por la Ley española de aguas de 1879. A partir de 2005 se inicia un proceso de reforma de algunas de estas Ley en las que tiene una gran importancia consolidar el derecho humano al agua, insertar algunas preocupaciones ambientales y la normativa europea de aguas actuando, normalmente, a través de la legislación española. Algunas reformas constitucionales han acompañado a este proceso. La contemplación física de las aguas en LAC informa de la gran importancia de los cursos de agua internacionales así como de los acuíferos que abarcan el territorio de varios países. La asunción de esta realidad y la consiguiente gestión compartida de las aguas, está muy atrasada todavía
The legislations of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) have been largely influenced by the Spanish Water Law of 1879. Starting in 2005, a process of reform of some of these Laws began, in which it has great influence. importance of consolidating the human right to water, inserting some environmental concerns and European water regulations, normally acting through Spanish legislation. The assumption of this reality and the consequent shared management of waters is still long overdue
