En este ensayo se analiza la percepción de dos fotografías de la guerra de Vietnam hechas por McCullin; se expone la forma en que las personas leen una fotografía;
la reacción ante un estímulo de sospecha de manipulación y la respuesta ante un estímulo de exaltación de una fotografía. Empleamos metodología cualitativa;
apoyados en grupos focales. Observamos que la lectura de la imagen no depende de los estímulos externos o influencia de terceros; sino de la propia observación de los espectadores.
Don McCullin is renowned for his photographic work on conflicts around the world. His images are notable for their composition and timing. In this essay, we analyze the perception of two photographs of the Vietnam War taken by McCullin;
the way in which people read a photograph; the reaction to a stimulus of suspicion of manipulation and the response to a stimulus of exaltation of a photograph. We used qualitative methodology; supported by focus groups. We observed that the reading of the image does not depend on external stimuli or the influence of third parties, but on the viewers’ own observation.
