La juventud ha sido protagonista de las distintas movilizaciones sociales en América La-tina (Amador-Baquiro, Muñoz-Gonzales, 2020). Su participación en estos espacios de protesta ha rebatido la hipótesis sobre su apatía política y ha confirmado que la población joven se inclina hacia mecanismos informales de participación (Dunlop et al., 2021; Cross y Young, 2008). Según esto, los jóvenes prefieren vincularse a partidos y organizaciones afines con la idea de “new politics” y no afiliarse a instituciones políticas tradicionales. No obstante, su adscripción a partidos políticos sigue siendo relevante para la supervivencia de las mismas estructuras partidistas, que necesitan presentar rostros nuevos para que los jóvenes se sien-tan identificados y porque su visión en espacios de representación es cada vez más necesaria.El objetivo de este artículo es analizar las afiliaciones partidistas de los jóvenes en las elecciones al Congreso en Colombia en 2022, a partir de la división de los grupos etarios de los y las candidatas a elecciones, y constatar la hipótesis sobre si las preferencias de afiliación de los candidatos jóvenes se orientan a partidos nuevos, pequeños y de tendencia ideológica de izquierda (Belschner, 2022). Asimismo, se indagará si persiste la desigualdad de género entre los candidatos y candidatas en este grupo etario.
Youth have been protagonists of the different social mobilizations in Latin America (Ama-dor-Baquiro, Muñoz-Gonzales, 2020), their participation in these spaces of protest has refuted the hypothesis about their political apathy and has confirmed that the young population is inclined towards informal mechanisms of participation (Dunlop et al., 2021; Cross and Young, 2008), according to which young people prefer to be linked to parties and organizations that are in line with the idea of “new politics” and not to be affiliated to traditional political insti-tutions. However, their affiliation to political parties continues to be relevant for the survival of the same party structures, which need to present new faces for young people to feel identi-fied and because their vision in spaces of representation is increasingly necessary.The objective of this chapter is to analyze the party affiliations of young people in the elections to Congress in Colombia in 2022, based on the division of the age groups of male and female candidates for elections and to verify whether the hypothesis of the affiliation prefer-ences of young candidates in new small parties with a leftist ideological tendency (Belschner, 2022), as well as to investigate whether gender inequality persists in male and female candi-dates in this age group.
