Los movimientos sociales en la Comarca Lagunera han sido de diversa naturaleza política, pero los que más han llamado la atención de sus habitantes, son los que se caracterizan por el cuidado del medio ambiente, siempre estará en la discusión y agenda ciudadana de que se crearán nuevos empleos y que es casi imposible no afectar los recursos naturales con los que cuenta un municipio, entidad regional o federal. El dilema de que no hay progreso ni desarrollo comunitario sin que repercuta en las políticas de cuidado del medioambiente, debido a las políticas económicas implementadas por los gobiernos federales a partir del Tratado de Libre Comercio en América Latina (TLCAL), en base a esos acuerdos internacionales, empresas de otros países han buscado establecerse en áreas rurales e incidiendo en las cotidianidades y practicas sociales comunitarias. En la región lagunera la empresa química The Chemours Company con sede en Estados Unidos y con amplia producción de productos que dar servicio a los diferentes sectores de bienes y servicios, manufacturera, etc. llega a México en el año 1960 en el municipio de Altamira Tamaulipas, para producir Dióxido de Titanio (TiO2) componente clave para la industria automotriz y aeroespacial (Chemours, s.f.), para el 5 de noviembre del 2015, la empresa The Chemours Company amplía su producción y plantea el levantamiento de otra planta para producir cianuro de sodio en el municipio de Salamanca Guanajuato; pero no se logró la instalación y posteriormente se intentó ubicar en San Luis de la Paz ahí mismo en Guanajuato (RED DTD, 2016).No se logra instalar tampoco en ese lugar y termina siendo expulsada de ambas ciudades del Estado de Guanajuato por ser una industria altamente tóxica y contaminante. 20 días después aparecen representantes de la empresa en el poblado de Dinamita, Durango. México, con la intención de establecerse. Los empresarios y autoridades de diversos niveles de gobierno, promueven y organizan un comité integrado con gente de la comunidad rural, para hacer labor de convencimiento y ser reubicados del pueblo y de vender sus terrenos a la empresa, el comité y los pobladores no lo permiten logrando que los representantes de la empresa se retiren, posteriormente se desplazan al poblado El Siete Durango, a 5 km en conducción de Dinamita Durango ambas localidades pertenecientes al municipio de Gómez Palacio, Durango (Ramírez, 2017).
