Objetivo: Refletir sobre o comportamento informacional de pessoas idosas frente a pandemia/infodemia por COVID-19, a luz da teoria de Thomas Wilson.
Método: Trata-se de um estudo teórico reflexivo.
Resultado: O isolamento social causado pela pandemia de COVID-19 levou muitas pessoas a passarem mais tempo nas redes sociais digitais, o que por sua vez aumentou a exposição a uma grande quantidade de informações, incluindo aquelas relacionadas à própria pandemia, na população idosa.
Considerações finais: A pandemia de COVID-19 trouxe repercussões negativas na saúde física, mental e nas relações sociais das pessoas idosas e provavelmente deixará um legado duradouro em várias áreas relacionadas à informação e tecnologia.
Objective: To reflect on the informational behavior of elderly people in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic/infodemic, in the light of Thomas Wilson's theory.
Method: This is a reflective theoretical study.
Results: the social isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has led many people to spend more time on digital social networks, which in turn has increased exposure to a large amount of information, including that related to the pandemic itself, in the elderly population.
Final thoughts: The COVID-19 pandemic has had negative repercussions on the physical, mental health and social relationships of elderly people and will probably leave a lasting legacy in several areas related to information and technology.
