El artículo presenta la experiencia y los resultados alcanzados en el marco de dos proyectos de extensión universitaria relacionados a la creación de un atlas-web interactivo como recurso didáctico innovador para la enseñanza de la geografía, con el objetivo de promover la incorporación de Tecnologías de la Información Geográfica (TIG) en los niveles de educación secundaria y superior, a través del desarrollo de una herramienta cartográfica que no solo permite la visualización y asociación de información espacial, sino que además pone a disponibilidad las bases de datos alfanuméricas y gráficas, posibilitando la descarga, edición y realización de mapas propios, con infinidad de combinaciones posibles, que fomentan la creatividad de docentes y estudiantes.
Se logró desarrollar y publicar un atlas digital interactivo basado en datos de la cuenca del río Luján, a través de la plataforma QGIS Cloud y la librería Leaflet, permitiendo la transición desde una cartografía estática a una más dinámica y accesible. Se llevaron a cabo talleres con docentes y estudiantes del Instituto Superior de Formación Docente N.° 51 de Pilar, proporcionando formación en el uso del atlas-web y en el manejo de Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG).
The paper presents the experience and results achieved within the framework of two university extension projects related to the creation of an interactive web-atlas as an innovative teaching resource for teaching Geography, with the aim of promoting the incorporation of Information Technologies. Geographic Information (TIG) at the secondary and higher education levels, through the development of a cartographic product that not only allows the visualization and association of spatial information but also makes alphanumeric and graphic databases available, making it possible downloading, editing and creating your own maps, with an infinite number of possible combinations, promoting the creativity of teachers and students.
An interactive digital atlas based on data from the Luján River basin was developed and published through the QGIS Cloud platform and the Leaflet library, allowing the transition from a static cartography to a more dynamic and accessible one. Workshops were held with teachers and students from the Instituto Superior de Formación Docente N.° 51 in Pilar, providing training in the use of the web-atlas and in the management of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
