El capital político es una categoría muy presente tanto en la vida social como en la literatura en las ciencias sociales. En el mundo social, el ‘capital político’ funciona como expresión a través de usos ordinarios, mientras que en el campo científico aspira a existir como concep-to. Con el fin de especificar el contenido de este concep-to y su alcance explicativo, es imposible no solicitar a la sociología de Pierre Bourdieu, un autor que teorizó la noción de capital en relación con un campo. A diferencia de otros campos, Bourdieu incursionó de manera poco sistemática en el campo político y la especie de capital que allí predomina, el capital político, lo que explica las imprecisiones del concepto. Es para aclarar lo que cabe entender por capital político que este artículo toma se-riamente en cuenta las analogías del razonamiento eco-nómico y sus límites para entender la operación de esta especie de capital cuando es invertida en el campo. Esto nos llevará a abordar este concepto pensando con, y a veces, contra Pierre Bourdieu
Political capital is a very present category both in social life and in social science literature. In the social world, “political capital” functions as a word through ordinary uses, while in the scientific field it aspires to exist as a concept. In order to specify the content of this concept and its explanatory scope, it is impossible not to request the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu, an author who theorized the notion of capital in relation to a field. Unlike other fields, Bourdieu made incursions in a piecemeal manner into the political field and the kind of capital that predominates there, “political capital”, which explains the inaccuracies of the concept. It is to clarify what can be understood by political capital that this article seriously takes in to account the analogies of economic reasoning and its limits to understand the operation of this kind of capital when it is invested in the field. This will lead us to approach this concept by thinking with, and sometimes against, Pierre Bourdieu.
