La mappa della conoscenza che gli archivi e gli infiniti sistemi di segni (e firme) conservano può essere "letta" in numerosi modi. Questi sistemi costituiscono un punto di riferimento per vari aspetti della vita contemporanea, contribuendo alla comprensione della realtà in modi che possono essere raggiunti solo grazie agli archivi. In questo senso, possiamo articolare la "lettura" degli archivi attraverso due concetti contigui ma chiaramente identificabili: patrimonio (da intendersi nelle sue varie forme, anche alla luce delle "comunità di patrimonio" definite dalla Convenzione di Faro, e quindi non solo come un "lascito del passato") e contemporaneità (da intendersi come la costante necessità di rileggere l'archivio e le sue forme, il suo utilizzo come strumento di lavoro tra analogico e digitale, e il necessario dialogo e confronto con l'Intelligenza Artificiale).
The map of knowledge that archives and the infinite systems of signs (and signatures) preserve can be "read" in numerous ways. These systems constitute a reference for various aspects of contemporary life, contributing to the understanding of reality in ways that can only be reached thanks to archives. In this sense, we can articulate the "reading" of archives through two contiguous but clearly identifiable concepts: heritage (to be understood in its various forms, also in light of the "communities of heritage" defined by the Faro Convention, and therefore not merely as a "legacy of the past") and contemporaneity (to be understood as the constant need to reread the archive and its forms, its use as a working tool between analog and digital, and the necessary dialogue and comparison with Artificial Intelligence).
