La arquitectura de las casas consistoriales vascas es ampliamente conocida. Sin embargo, el origen de esta tipología edilicia tan particular es en gran parte desconocido. El estudio de la antigua casa consistorial de Andoain, derribada a comienzos del siglo pasado y de la que se conserva una única fotografía, aporta datos fundamentales para comprender este origen y el proceso de formación de estas arquitecturas.
The architecture of Basque town halls is widely recognized. However, the origin of this highly distinctive building typology remains largely unknown. The study of the old town hall of Andoain, demolished at the beginning of the last century and of which only a single photograph remains, provides essential data for understanding this origin and the developmental process of these architectural forms.
Euskal udaletxeen arkitektura oso ezaguna da. Hala ere, eraikin-tipologia berezi honen jatorria hein handi batean ezezaguna da. Andoaingo antzinako udaletxearen azterketak —mende hasieran eraitsia eta argazki bakarra baino ez dena gorde— oinarrizko datuak eskaintzen ditu arkitektura hauen jatorria eta eratzeko prozesua ulertzeko.
