Los rostros andróginos, por presentar una indefinición en cuanto al reconocimiento de su género, se inscriben en la categoría de imágenes biestables. Es posible desambiguar su género dependiendo de la forma en que se mire el rostro y también en consideración a estímulos acústicos que, por su carga semántica, pueden influenciar o modular su interpretación en cuanto al género. El presente estudio tuvo por objetivo analizar el efecto modulador que puede tener un tono de voz femenino en el reconocimiento de género de una imagen andrógina, considerando las áreas fijadas ocularmente por parte de los observadores. 24 participantes tomaron parte de una prueba experimental realizada frente a un dispositivo de registro de movimientos oculares (referencia Tobii T-120). Los resultados muestran que la modulación acústica repercute en la duración de las fijaciones oculares en la boca, la nariz y el cabello del rostro andrógino, cuando se le atribuye que es femenino.
Androgynous faces, for presenting a lack of definition regarding the recognition of their gender, belong to the category of bistable images. It is possible to disambiguate their gender depending on the way the face is viewed and also by using auditory stimuli that, due to their semantic load, can influence or modulate their interpretation in terms of gender. The objective of this study was to analyze the modulating effect that a female tone of voice can exert on the gender recognition of an androgynous image, considering the areas visually fixed by observers. 24 participants took part in an experimental test performed in front of an eye-tracker device (reference Tobii T-120). The results show that the auditory modulation affects the duration of the ocular fixations in the mouth, nose and hair of the androgynous face, when it is attributed that it is feminine.
