Cada día crece la necesidad de comunicar la ciencia desde la academia a la sociedad en general. Las redes sociales digitales científicas (RSDC), son plataformas emergentes, que ofrecen interacción entre académicos y socialización de la investigación. Para estudiar si las universidades ecuatorianas impulsan la comunicación de resultados investigativos y si sus políticas y estructura fomentan o no esta divulgación, se usó una metodología de enfoque mixto. Se analizaron: documentos de investigación de 26 universidades ecuatorianas, con formación en comunicación/periodismo; entrevistas a autoridades de investigación y docentes para conocer su percepción sobre iniciativas de fomento a la investigación y uso de las RSDC; y, se midió la presencia e impacto que los docentes tienen en las mismas. Se evidencia que la comunicación de la ciencia es iniciativa docente, pero también, de las instituciones universitarias, uno de los principales mecanismos de difusión son las RSDC. A mayor visibilidad, mayor impacto de la investigación.
Every day the need to communicate science from the academy to society in general grows. Scientific digital social networks (RSDC) are emerging platforms that offer interaction between academics and socialization of research. To study whether Ecuadorian universities promote the communication of research results and whether or not their policies and structure encourage this disclosure, a mixed approach methodology was used. The following were analyzed: research documents from 26 Ecuadorian universities, with training in communication/journalism; interviews with research authorities and teachers to find out their perception of initiatives to promote research and the use of RSDC; and, the presence and impact that teachers have on them was measured. It is evident that the communication of science is a teaching initiative, but also, of the university institutions, one of the main diffusion mechanisms are the RSDC. The greater the visibility, the greater the impact of the investigation.
