La Real Academia Española dispone en su archivo de documentación referente a los encuadernadores que han trabajo para ella desde su fundación, en el siglo XVIII, hasta la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Entre esa documentación localizamos una factura de 1895 de la viuda del encuadernador Francisco García Alonso, Gertrudis López Lledó, con taller en Madrid, en la que indica la encuadernación de 129 obras y 200 volúmenes. El presente trabajo estudia esos volúmenes, las diferentes tipologías de encuadernaciones llevadas a cabo, sus materiales de elaboración, técnicas de construcción y decoración y su estado de conservación, además de identificar a los antiguos poseedores de estas obras, consiguiendo conocer mejor de esta forma la historia de los talleres de encuadernación madrileños, la historia de la Real Academia Española y el tipo de obras que llegaban a la corporación.
The Royal Spanish Academy has in its archives documentation on the bookbinders who have worked for it from its foundation in the 18th century until the second half of the 20th century. This documentation includes an invoice of 1895 from the widow of the bookbinder Francisco García Alonso, Gertrudis López Lledó, who had a workshop in Madrid, indicating the binding of 129 works and 200 volumes. This work studies these volumes, the different types of bindings carried out, the materials used, construction and decoration techniques and their state of conservation, as well as identifying the former owners of these works, thus gaining a better understanding of the history of Madrid's bookbinding workshops, the history of the Royal Spanish Academy and the type of works that reached the corporation.
