Las universidades públicas estatales (UPES) en México han enfrentado desafíos en diversos órdenes. Su entorno tecnológico, social, político, económico y cultural se ha modificado a gran velocidad, especialmente durante los últimos treinta años. Ello abre interrogantes acerca de los retos que encaran para responder a las circunstancias actuales y futuras. Aquí se analizan y discuten las condiciones que afrontan estas instituciones de educación superior, en particular desde el último tramo del siglo XX; además, se traza un panorama lo más claro posible para vislumbrar posibles acciones a tomar en cuenta en los próximos años
It is considered that state public universities have faced challenges in various orders. Currently, its technological, social, political, economic and cultural environment has changed at great speed, especially during the last 30 years. This raises questions about the challenges they face in responding to current and future circumstances. Therefore, analyzing and discussing the conditions that these higher education institutions have, especially in the last stretch of the last 20th century, it becomes transcendental to draw a panorama as clear as possible to envision possible actions towards the future.
