El objetivo del trabajo es presentar las políticas de información bibliotecarias de los congresos locales de México. Debido a la poca bibliografía sobre estas unidades de información, un segundo objetivo se enfocó en identificar a su personal, colecciones, áreas y servicios. Se interrogó, por medio de encuestas en línea, a los responsables de las bibliotecas para saber si en cada una de las áreas, servicios, manejo de colecciones y selección del personal se cuenta con una política de información que indique cómo se llevan a cabo las actividades. El instrumento utilizado fue un cuestionario que se elaboró con base en las Directrices para bibliotecas parlamentarias creadas por la IFLA. Se designa como investigación cuantitativa y documental. La muestra que se estudió fue de 17 bibliotecas. Las políticas de información se presentan con base en las áreas y servicios que –de acuerdo con la IFLA– deben tener este tipo de bibliotecas. Los resultados obtenidos demostraron que cuentan con políticas de información explícitas en los niveles institucional y organizacional. Se concluyó que a nivel local también se contemplan políticas de información, pero el estudio no comprueba si son explícitas.
The objective of the paper is to presents information policies of the libraries of the local congresses of Mexico. As there is little literature regarding these information units, a second objective is to identify their personal, collections, areas and services. Through online surveys, questions are asked whether in each of the areas: services, collection management and human resources selection if they have an information policy that indicates them how they should be carried out these activities. The instrument is a questionnaire elaborated based on IFLA’s Parliamentary Library Guidelines. It is a quantitative and documentary research. The sample studied are seventeen libraries. It presents the information policies based on the areas and services that, according to IFLA, this type of library should have. The results obtained demonstrate that they do count with the explicit information policies at the institutional and organizational. It concludes that at the local level they also have information policies, but the present study does not verify if they are explicit.
