La Iglesia católica fue la institución más influyente del Imperio español, puesto que la religión permeó todas las instituciones modelando el carácter y vida de todos sus habitantes con la finalidad de formar buenos súbditos del rey a través de la educación y el culto. El objetivo principal del estudio es explicar la presencia y el uso de los libros litúrgicos y paralitúrgicos dentro del Real Seminario de Minería de la Nueva España como parte de la formación cívica y moral de los futuros peritos de minas, a través de documentación resguardada en el Palacio de Minería. La metodología es meramente histórica bibliográfica y recurro a fuentes primarias y aspectos teóricos de la liturgia para interpretar los datos apropiadamente. Como resultado se demostró que, a pesar de tratarse de una institución científica de corte ilustrado, la religión también penetró en el Real Seminario Metálico a través de dicho repertorio bibliográfico, constituido por libros presentes en todas las instituciones novohispanas y los cuales es imprescindible conocer, ya que pueden encontrarse en nuestras bibliotecas con fondos históricos.
The Catholic Church was the most influential institution of the Spanish Empire due to religion permeating all institutions and modelling the character and life of all inhabitants to form good subjects for the king through education and worship. The objective is to explain the presence and use of liturgical and paraliturgical books within the Royal Mining Seminary of New Spain as part of future mining experts’ civic and moral education utilizing documents kept at the Palace of Mining. The methodology is merely historical-bibliographical and resorts to primary sources and liturgy theory for proper interpretation of the data. As a result, the study demonstrates that, despite being an Enlightened scientific institution, religion also pervaded the Royal Mining Seminary through the mentioned bibliographic repertoire, which were books found in every New Spain institution and that are imperative to know because they are kept in our libraries with historical collections.
