The purpose of this article is to analyse the concept of the independence of football clubs and what influences are considered to be prohibited in this sphere of independence. This analysis is carried out in a twofold approach, firstly under the regulations issued by the governing body of the world's football federations, FIFA, and secondly regarding the interpretation made in its awards by the international arbitration body dedicated to disputes around the sport, the CAS.
