El poder político lleva milenios siendo estudiado; y seguirá estudiándose porque es un fenómeno social cuya fluidez hace que de continuo ofrezca elementos para su análisis. Como expresión de fuerza y como capacidad para imponer conductas, el poder es un hecho social presente en todos los grupos humanos. Su regulación germinal corresponde a las primeras formas de organización; cuando los detentadores del poder adoptaron regularidades elementales, comenzó a darse lo que se identifica como Estado arcaico. Este ensayo atañe a las diferentes formas de entender el poder que tienen relevancia para el ordenamiento constitucional.
Political power has been studied for millennia. It will continue to be so because it is a social phenomenon whose fluidity means that it continually offers elements for analysis. As an expression of strength and as the ability to impose behavior, power is a social fact present in all human groups. Its germinal regulation corresponds to the first forms of organization; When those in power adopted elementary regularities, the archaic State began to occur.
