Considerando el rápido crecimiento del sector turístico y sus efectos económicos, sociales y ambientales; el propósito de este trabajo es analizar el comportamiento de la producción científica del turismo sostenible para el periodo entre 1987 y 2022. Este trabajo de investigación utiliza los principales indicadores de bibliometría, para el análisis de documentos publicados sobre turismo sostenible en Web of Science (WoS). Los resultados indican que se está incrementando el interés por el tema de estudio, ya que, de los 34 años consultados y 3438 documentos analizados, los últimos cinco años concentran la publicación de más del 50% de los trabajos. El análisis de palabras clave revela que Administración, Impacto y Conservación son las temáticas sobre las cuales más se ha trabajado. En el mejor de nuestro conocimiento, este trabajo contribuye con un análisis actual y global de la investigación científica en turismo sostenible; otras investigaciones analizan periodos menores o con temas más específicos.
Considering the rapid growth of the tourism sector and its economic, social and environmental effects; the purpose of this work is to analyze the behavior of the scientific production of sustainable tourism for the period between 1987 and 2022. *This research work uses the main bibliometric indicators to analyze the documents published on sustainable tourism in the Web of Science (WoS). The results indicate that interest in the topic of study is increasing, since, of the 34 years consulted and 3,438 documents analyzed, the last five years account for the publication of more than 50% of the works. The keyword analysis reveals that Management, Impact and Conservation are the topics on which the most work has been done. To the best of our knowledge, this work contributes to a current and global analysis of scientific research in sustainable tourism; other investigations analyze smaller periods or with more specific topics.
