La investigación precisa cuál es el idioma oficial en Venezuela. Si bien la Constitución parece clara en ese sentido, al indicar que es el castellano, la interpretación y regulación que ha efectuado sobre este tema la Ley de Idioma Indígenas, al decir que éstos también son oficiales en el país, genera confusión. Con fundamento en los diarios de debate del proceso de elaboración de la Constitución, se coloca de relieve la intención de sus redactores y el sentido del precepto, para finalmente concluir que el idioma oficial en Venezuela es el castellano y los idiomas de los pueblos indígenas son oficiales para los integrantes de esos pueblos, en sus relaciones propias. Se advierte la situación de la norma legal cuestionada y las consecuencias jurídicas, en el ámbito público y privado, de que el castellano sea el idioma oficial.
The research specifies which is the official language in Venezuela. Although the Constitution seems to be clear on this matter, by indicate that it is Spanish, the interpretation and regulation carried out on this topic by the Law of Indigenous Language, by saying that these are also official in the country, generates confusion. Based on the debate minutes from the process of drafting the Constitution, the intention of its drafters and the sense of the precept are highlighted, to finally conclude that the official language in Venezuela is Spanish and the indigenous languages are official for the members of these peoples, in their own relations. It warns the situation of the legal rule questioned, and the legal consequences, in the public and private spheres, that the Spanish is the official language.
