El tráfico ilegal de documentos históricos provenientes de Perú que son vendidos en páginas web y redes sociales ha causado pérdidas irreparables a la memoria de nuestro Estado y nuestra sociedad. Para los servidores civiles y autoridades políticas, esta pérdida limita las posibilidades de aprender de las lecciones del pasado y comprender los cambios en el aparato estatal y sus relaciones con la sociedad. Para los ciudadanos, el daño es más grave, porque ataca los fundamentos de la identidad peruana. Para abordar esta problemática, se conformó la hoy denominada Unidad Funcional de Registros y Defensa del Patrimonio Documental, del Archivo General de la Nación. Este caso aborda la experiencia del personal de esta unidad con el propósito de revalorar el trabajo que realizan y conocer sus principales logros y desafíos, en un intento de reflejar la importancia, pero también la problemática que enfrentan los archivos en nuestro país.
The illegal traffic of historical documents from Peru has caused irreparable losses to the memory of our State and our society. For civil servants and political authorities, this loss limits the possibilities of learning from the lessons of the past and understanding the changes in the State apparatus and its relations with society. For citizens the damage is more serious, because it attacks the foundations of Peruvian identity. To face this problem, what is today called the Functional Unit of Records and Defense of the Documentary Heritage of the National Archive was formed. This case addresses the experience of the staff of this unit with the purpose of reassessing the work they do and knowing their main achievements and challenges, in an attempt to reflect the importance, but also the problems faced by the public and private archives in our country.
