El objetivo del artículo es presentar los resultados de investigación en torno a la construcción de las mega - regiones transfronterizas, específicamente Cali-Baja, a partir de su naturaleza y rol en el desarrollo industrial vinculado a redes globales de producción, lo cual promueve, la complementariedad económica, y a pesar del pro-ceso de corporativización que se produjo en algún momento, prevaleció la propia dinámica territorial. En términos metodológicos, se aplicaron entrevistas semi-es-tructuradas a actores claves y se recuperó información generada a partir de otras herramientas como grupos focales. Se concluye que la construcción de las mega - regiones ubicadas a lo largo de la frontera de México y Estados Unidos, resulta de múltiples factores, pero termina siendo una construcción social de quiénes habitan y viven la región.
The objective of the article is to present the results of research on the construction of cross-border mega-regions, specifically Cali-Baja, based on their nature and role in industrial development linked to global production networks, which promotes eco-nomic complementarity, and despite the process of corporatization that occurred at some point, the territorial dynamics itself prevailed. In methodological terms, semi-structured interviews were applied to key actors and information generated from other tools such as focus groups was recovered.
