El presente artículo estudia el conflicto socioambiental ocasionado por la minería de titanio en Chiapas desde el enfoque de género. Se persiguen dos objetivos: 1) identificar a los principales actores y actoras movilizadas, y 2) analizar hasta qué punto el conflicto dio apertura para transformar las relaciones de género. La información se obtuvo a través de la revisión de fuentes secundarias, entrevistas y talleres. Se concluye que los factores que determinan el papel de cada actor en la defensa del territorio son el género y la generación, y que las movilizaciones no significaron una experiencia emancipatoria para las mujeres.
This paper analyzes the socioenvironmental conflict caused by titanium mining in Chiapas from a gender perspective. The paper has two objectives: 1) to identify the main mobilized actors, 2) to analyze to what extent the conflict allowed for the transformation of gender relations. Data were obtained through the review of secondary sources, interviews and workshops. It is concluded that the factors that determine the role that each actor plays in the defense of the territory are gender and generation, and that the mobilizations did not contribute to women’s emancipation.
