Mientras la mayoría de países europeos de nuestro entorno están dando una respuesta política al proceso de metropolitanización, en España existe una larga tradición de invisibilidad del hecho urbano y metropolitano. En este sentido, el caso español representa una anomalía en Europa. Este artículo presenta los resultados principales del proyecto METROGOV (Gobernanza Metropolitana en España: Institucionalización y Modelos), financiado en el marco del Plan Nacional I+D+i 2019 del Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación. El objetivo del artículo es analizar las características de la gobernanza metropolitana en España.
Since the beginning of 2000s, most of the European countries have undergone a va-riety of reforms to institutionalize and enable metropolitan governance in their territories. Differently, in Spain there is a long tradition of invisibility of the urban and metropolitan reality. This article makes a diagnosis of metropolitan governance in Spain based on the results obtained in the METROGOV project (Metropolitan Governance in Spain: Insti-tutionalization and Models), financed within the framework of the National R+D+i Plan 2019 of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
