Este estudo se concentra na análise do fenômeno do turismo de saúde, que envolve pacientes que viajam em busca de atendimento médico, sendo referidos como "turistas-pacientes". O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar o perfil do turista-paciente que busca tratamento médico na cidade de Porto Velho, localizada em Rondônia. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva, com abordagem quantitativa. A amostra foi constituída por 94 pessoas que buscaram atendimento em uma clinica de saúde sem fins lucrativos. Os resultados da coleta de dados revelam que a maioria dos pacientes avalia positivamente sua condição de saúde, entretanto, manifesta uma visão crítica em relação aos serviços médicos disponíveis em suas respectivas regiões de origem. A especialidade médica mais demandada pelos turistas-pacientes é a Clínica Geral, e a maioria deles busca atendimento mediante encaminhamento médico. Além de sua busca por tratamento médico, os turistas-pacientes também desempenham um papel significativo na economia local, direcionando grande parte de seus gastos para alimentação e hospedagem na cidade. No entanto, os resultados revelam uma concentração das atividades desses pacientes em torno do tratamento médico, com uma notável falta de diversificação nas atividades turísticas, tornando evidente a necessidade de ampliar e diversificar as opções de atividades turísticas na cidade para incentivar os turistas-pacientes a explorar mais amplamente os atrativos da região.
This study focuses on the analysis of the phenomenon of health tourism, which involves patients traveling in search of medical care, beingreferred to as "tourists-patients". The objective of this research is to analyze the profile of the tourist-patient who seeks medical treatment in the city of Porto Velho, located in Rondônia. This is descriptive research, with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 94 people who sought care in a nonprofit health clinic. The results of the data collection reveal that the majority of patients evaluates positively their health condition, however, they express a critical view in relation to the medical services available in their respective regions of origin. The medical specialty most demanded by the tourists-patients is the General Clinic, and the majority of them seek care by medical referral. In addition to their search for medical treatment, tourist-patients also play a significant role in the local economy, directing much of their spending towards food and lodging in the city. However, the results reveal a concentration of the activities of these patients around medical treatment, with a notablelack of diversification in tourist activities, making evident the need to expand and diversify the options of tourist activities in the city to encourage the tourist-patients to explore more widely the attractions of the region.
