Este artículo indaga en la trayectoria intelectual de Bruno Latour (1947-2022), enfatizando cuatro hilos que permiten desplazarnos por distintos momentos de su pensamiento: (1) el concepto de inscripción, (2) la metáfora de los monstruos, (3) la noción de lo híbrido y (4) la alusión a la metamorfosis. Comprendiendo estos hilos como conceptos laterales, a partir de ellos se abre un recorrido por la obra de Latour desde sus inicios en la filosofía teológica, pasando por los estudios de laboratorio, su asociología y su proyecto ecológico tardío. Una vez hecho este recorrido, se indaga en los rendimientos de las herramientas que ofrecen Latour y la teoría del actor-red (TAR) para hacer investigación científico-social en Latinoamérica.
This article delves into the intellectual trajectory of Bruno Latour (1947-2022), highlighting four threads that allow us to navigate through different moments of his thinking: (1) the concept of inscription, (2) the metaphor of monsters, (3) the notion of the hybrid, and (4) the reference to metamorphosis. Understanding these threads as lateral concepts, they provide a journey through Latour’s work, starting from his early engagement with philosophy and theology, progressing through laboratory studies, his associology, and his later ecological project. Having traversed this path, the article examines the yield of tools offered by Latour and the Actor-Network Theory (ANT) for conducting scientific-social research in Latin America.
