El presente artículo analiza la segunda vuelta de las elecciones presidenciales del año 2023 en Argentina y plantea algunas explicaciones sobre el éxito del candidato libertario, Javier Milei, un candidato outsider que alteró por completo el panorama político argentino. Este fenómeno se inserta en una tendencia general, el ascenso de las extremas derechas y la viral expansión de sus narrativas en todo Occidente, y está íntimamente vinculado con la crisis económica que vive el país. De igual forma, Milei da cuenta de un momento de intensa polarización y de gran malestar social.
This article analyzes the second round of the 2023 presidential elections in Argentina and puts forward some explanations for the success of the libertarian candidate, Javier Milei, an outsider candidate who completely altered the Argentine political landscape. This phenomenon is part of a general trend, the rise of extreme right-wingers and the viral expansion of their narratives throughout the West and is intimately linked to the economic crisis the country is experiencing. Likewise, Milei reports on a moment of intense polarization and great social unrest.
