El arquetipo ideal de iudex perfectus, encarnado por Dios, operó como dispositivo que permitió, no solo caracterizar al juez, sino situarlo en una posición cultural de trascendencia respecto de la sociedad en la que había de desempeñar su oficio. Los teólogos y juristas, junto a las fuentes de la praxis, son las que dan pie en este trabajo para sugerir las líneas básicas de las imágenes, que contribuyeron a configurar un muy preciso modelo de juez.
In the legal culture of the so-called Old Regime (ius commune) the image of the judge was outlined within the framework of a plurality of orders that, like dogmatic and moral theology, concurred with the right to define their concepts and categories. The ideal archetype of iudex perfectus, represented by God, operated as a device that allowed not only to characterize the judge, but to place him in a cultural position of transcendence with respect to the society in which he had to carry out his office. The theologians and jurists, together with the sources of praxis, are the ones that give rise to this work to suggest the basic lines of the images, which contributed to configure a very precise model of judge.
