No Brasil, em 2021, aproximadamente 59% dos estudantes matriculados em instituições de ensino superior eram mulheres. Porém, esse percentual não está homogeneamente distribuído nos cursos ofertados, sendo muito menor em cursos das áreas de Tecnologia, Engenharia e Ciências Exatas. O mesmo ocorre com a quantidade de docentes mulheres, que apesar de representarem 47% dos docentes do ensino superior, ainda são menos representativas nas áreas das ciências exatas. Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar quantitativamente a presença feminina no corpo docente dos departamentos de áreas de Ciências Exatas em todas as unidades do Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG), uma instituição especializada na oferta de educação tecnológica nos diferentes níveis e modalidades de ensino. Nos 34 departamentos analisados, somente 25% dos docentes nas áreas de exatas eram mulheres, mostrando que ainda há um longo caminho a ser percorrido para que a igualdade de gênero seja atingida.
Approximately 59% of students enrolled in higher education institutions were women in Brazil in 2021. However, this percentage is not evenly distributed among the courses offered and it is usually lower in courses focused on technology, engineering, and exact sciences. This pattern also occurs in the number of female professors. Despite representing 47% of higher education professors, they are still underrepresented in the exact sciences areas. Based on the current scenario, this work aims to quantitatively analyze the female presence in areas focused on exact sciences in ten units of the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG), an institution of higher education, specialized in offering technological education at different levels and modalities of education. In ten institution, only 25% of professors in exact sciences are women. It shows that there is still a long path to achieve gender equality.
