This article aims to analyze the American film Mother (2017), directed by Darren Aronofsky, emphasizing the symbolic universe that underlies the work, especially in what concerns the female archetype. Will be made a comparison between the movie and mythology, especially with the biblical story found in the book of Genesis, to see how the "Mother!" character embodies the feminine principle found throughout all creations. The discussion will be focused on myth analysis, emphasizing some of Gilbert Durand's theoretical premises developed in his book Campos do imaginário.
Objetiva-se analisar o filme estadunidense Mãe! (2017), dirigido por Darren Aronofsky, dando ênfase ao universo simbólico que alicerça a obra, especialmente no que diz respeito ao arquétipo feminino. Para tanto, far-se-á uma correlação entre a película e a mitologia, mais especificamente com a narrativa bíblica presente no livro do Gênesis, buscando observar como a personagem “Mãe” representa o princípio feminino presente em toda a criação. A discussão pautar-se-á na Mitanálise, focalizando-se, principalmente, alguns dos pressupostos teóricos elaborados por Gilbert Durand em sua obra Campos do imaginário.
