Meditar la circunstancia en la ‘cultura de nuestro tiempo’ ha sido el que hacer de la filosofía de la cultura por lo menos desde finales del s. XIX, una indagación que parte del diagnóstico nietzscheano a propósito de la descripción sociológica de un presente dominado por la barbarie, a excepción hecha por el espíritu inquisitivo y el mirar metafísico que ha caracterizado al santo, el filósofo y el artista. Otro de los propósitos de este ensayo es el de mostrar el cariz fenomenológico de una meditación atemperada en la temporalidad de la circunstancia, cuestión que evoca los orígenes del vitalismo filosófico propuesto por Ortega y Gasset en las Meditaciones del Quijote
Meditating on the circumstance in ‘our contemporary culture’ has been the task of philosophy of culture since the late 1900s, at least. It is a question based on Nietzsche’s diagnosis of the purpose of the sociological description of a present that is ruled by brutality, excepting the curious spirit and the metaphysical view inherent to saints, philosophers and artists. Another of the goals of this essay is to bring forward the phenomenological aspect of meditation adjusted to the times of the circumstance, a matter that evokes the origins of philosophical vitalism proposed by Ortega y Gasset in Meditaciones del Quijote
