Tomando como referencia el caso Djokovic, el texto cuestiona la legitimidad de la vacunación contra la COVID-19 como medida de control de fronteras. Las circunstancias que justificarían la obligatoriedad de una vacuna solo se dan parcialmente aquí, de ahí que deba primar el derecho humano a no recibir un tratamiento médico involuntario. Mientras se prolongue la pandemia es razonable que los Gobiernos pidan certificados para acceder a ciertos lugares o servicios, o que nieguen temporalmente la entrada en sus países a quienes no acrediten estar inmunizados. No lo es, en cambio, que se remitan solo a la vacunación. El caso Djokovic resulta un abuso en ese sentido, e ilustra el enaltecimiento de la seguridad frente a la libertad que parece imponerse desde hace un tiempo en nuestras sociedades.
Taking the Djokovic case as a reference, the text questions the legitimacy of vaccination against COVID-19 as a legal measure for border control. As the circumstances that would justify the mandatory nature of a vaccine are only partially given here, the human right not to receive involuntary medical treatment should prevail. While the pandemic conti-nues it is reasonable for governments to require certificates to access certain places or services, or to temporarily deny entry into their countries to those who do not prove to be immuni-zed. It is not reasonable, however, that they stick to a vaccination-only policy. The Djokovic case is an abuse in this respect and illustrates well the exaltation of security over freedom that seems to be imposing lately in our societies.
