Purpose: This study aims to see the strategy of the Banyu Bening Community in campaigning for rainwater to various regions in Indonesia. This research is vital in order to obtain insights in implementing climate change disaster mitigation which is based on community.
Theoretical framework: Recent literature has reported good results in both student performance and satisfaction in blended learning (Dziuban et al., 2004). However, there is still much to investigate and learn about BL because it is a recent development.
Design/Methodology/Approach: This study uses a qualitative research design which was carried out at the main headquarters of the Banyu Bening community, namely the Yogyakarta Sekolah Air Hujan. Data was collected by conducting direct interviews with three members of the Banyu Bening Community and participating in a forum group discussion with participants from outside the community, including; academics, members of the Regional House of Representatives, the Yogyakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency, and the Jepara Regency Environmental Service.
Findings: The strategies practiced by the Banyu Bening Community combine elements of religion, health and economy in educating people on the Rainwater Harvesting Movement, in such a manner that more people will feel the benefits of rainwater from the perspective of health and economy. In addition, each message that is conveyed is adjusted to the target audience.
Research, practical & social implications: The Banyu Bening Community has implemented various communication strategies. The strategies that Banyu Bening Community can be implemented for campaign or communicate something to the community. Moreover, for academics, it can support new knowledge to analize new phenomenon.
Originality/Value: A significant contribution to the body of knowledge is achieved through testing and subsequent confirmation of the effects of communication strategy. This research is very important to gain insight in implementing communication strategies for the interests of people and the environment that are collective and mass in nature.
