This article aims to describe the relationship between the Executive and Legislative powers in the municipality of Igarapé-Miri between 2017 to 2020, focusing on the impeachment of the mayor moved by the City Council. This is a descriptive and exploratory case study using a qualitative approach, employing the procedures of documental analysis and interviews. Our theoretical framework was based on the categories suggested by Couto (1998). The results indicate, in relation to the strategy, the executive was not able to establish a cooperative relationship with the legislative, since in less than a year of government the relationship became conflictive. Regarding the modality, the executive starts the government with an attempt to form a coalition of 10 councilors, but it was not successful, prevailing instability in the relationship with the legislative. Finally, about the "currency of exchange" category, notably allocative/physiological, proves to have been one of the central elements that triggered the process of impeachment.
Este artigo tem por objetivo descrever a relação entre o poder Executivo e Legislativo na política municipal de Igarapé-Miri entre os anos de 2017 a 2020, tendo como foco o processo de cassação do prefeito movido pela Câmara dos Vereadores. Trata-se de um estudo de caso descritivo de natureza exploratória em abordagem qualitativa, que utilizou como procedimentos de coleta de dados entrevistas semiestruturadas e análise documental. Utilizando-se as categorias sugeridas por Couto (1998), observou-se que o executivo municipal, em relação à estratégia, não conseguiu estabelecer uma relação cooperativa com o legislativo, pois em menos de um ano de governo a relação se tornou conflitiva. Em relação à modalidade, o executivo inicia o governo com a tentativa de formar uma coalizão de 10 vereadores, mas não é bem sucedido, prevalecendo a instabilidade na relação com o legislativo. Por fim, a categoria moeda de troca, notadamente alocativa/fisiológica, demonstra ter sido um dos elementos centrais que desencadearam o processo de cassação.
