Liber Amicorum Manfred Weiss, edited by Marius Olivier, Nicola Smit and Evance Kalula, is a befitting tribute to a global giant of labor and social law from South African academics and judges. This Liber Amicorum contains the impressive curriculum vitae of Professor Weiss and his striking list of publications which, with Professor Weiss having already reached the age of eighty years, and spanning twenty pages, shows no signs of stagnation.
As noted in the Forward by Justice Basheer Waglay (Judge President of the Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court of South Africa), Professor Weiss has had a long and fruitful relationship with South Africa and the rest of the Southern African Development Community region as a scholar, friend, policy catalyst, mentor, and teacher (p. v). In the Liber Amicorum, several of Professor Weiss’s South African labor law colleagues and friends reflect on various labor law, employment relations, and social law themes, discourses, developments, difficulties, and opportunities.
