Estudiar una carrera universitaria permite a las personas poder formarse profesionalmente y obtener un título de grado para así estar habilitadas a ejercer una cierta profesión, entre la gran cantidad de carreras que se ofertan anualmente a nivel nacional, existe un grupo que no son consideradas por los solicitantes, quedando relegadas por sobre las demás, la Universidad Estatal de Bolívar no escapa a esta realidad. En el presente trabajo se realiza un análisis descriptivo de las carreras menos demandadas en esta institución, insumo técnico para la toma de decisiones de las autoridades sobre la planificación de la oferta académica con criterios de pertinencia y en cumplimiento de estándares de calidad. Para esta evaluación se analiza la demanda de carreras en los periodos 2019-1, 2019-2 y 2020-1, tanto a nivel nacional como en la UEB, así como también se emplea la evaluación de costo de carrera por estudiante dentro de la Institución. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que de las 20 carreras que oferta la UEB, seis están entre las más demandadas a nivel nacional. En cuanto el costo, el menor es de Educación Básica con USD 1.369,1 por estudiante, al contrario, la carrera con el mayor costo promedio por estudiante al año es Educación Intercultural Bilingüe con USD 15.904,2, lo que supera casi doce veces el costo de la menor. Como conclusión, es necesario realizar nuevos estudios de mercado, pertinencia y prospectivas de estas carreras tan costosas y de poca demanda, con la finalidad de considerar su permanencia o restructuración.
Studying a university career allows people to be able to train professionally and obtain a degree in order to be qualified to practice a certain profession, amongthe large number of careers that are offered annually at the national level, there is a group that is not considered by the applicants, being relegated above the others, the State University of Bolívar does not escape this reality. In the present work, a descriptive analysis of the less demanded careers in this institution is carried out, technical input for the decision-making of the authorities on the planning of the academic offer with criteria of relevance and in compliance with quality standards. For this evaluation, the demand for careers in the periods 2019-1, 2019-2 and 2020-1 is analyzed, both at the national level and in the UEB, as well as the evaluation of the cost of the career per student within the Institution. . The results obtained show that of the 20 careers offered by the UEB, six are among the most demanded at the national level. In terms of cost, the lowest is Basic Education with USD 1,369.1 per student; on the contrary, the course with the highest average cost per student per year is Intercultural Bilingual Education with USD 15,904.2, which is almost twelve times higher than the cost of the minor. In conclusion, it is necessary to carry out new market, relevance and prospective studies of these expensive and low-demand careers, in order to consider their permanence or restructuring.
