En la entrevista “Me apasiona la inteligencia”, con Mauricio Carrera, Inés Arredondo —escritora mexicana de Sinaloa, integrante de la generación de medio siglo— afirmó que “La señal” fue el primer cuento que le brindó la pauta en relación con la forma y el tema que le interesaron abordar en sus escritos posteriores; en este sentido, gran parte de la estética arredondiana se puede analizar en dicho relato, por lo que resulta conveniente su estudio por el valor literario que posee. En este artículo se retoma como eje el cuento mencionado y se analizan los temas de lo sagrado, lo numinoso, la intertextualidad con personajes bíblicos, así como el encuentro con lo divino.
In the interview “Me apasiona la inteligencia” [I’m passionate about intelligence], with Mauricio Carrera, Inés Arredondo —Mexican writer from Sinaloa, a member of the middle century generation— stated that “La señal” [“The signal”] was the first short tale which opened the way for the background and topic of her later writings. Hence, a large part of Arredondo’s aesthetics may be analyzed in such tale; this way, it is convenient to study it due to the literary value it possesses. In the present article, the aforementioned tale is retaken as an axis and the topics of the sacred, the numinous, intertextuality with biblical characters and also the encou-nter with the divine are analyzed.
