El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el impacto al derecho a la privacidad que trae consigo el uso del metaverso; asimismo, otro de los fines del documento es estudiar el alcance e implicaciones del derecho de protección de datos personales en dicha realidad virtual. La aportación de este texto académico se desarrolla a partir de una revisión documental que establece el estado actual del fenómeno, el surgimiento y las características generales del metaverso, algunos de los aspectos legales en relación con este nuevo espacio virtual y la forma en la que el uso del metaverso puede impactar al derecho a la privacidad de sus usuarios, así como los desafíos del derecho de protección de datos personales en este “nuevo ciberespacio”.
The objective of this article is to analyze the impact on the right to privacy that the use of the metaverse brings; another purpose of the document is to study the scope and implications of the data protection right in virtual reality.The contribution of the academic text is developed from a documentary review the state of the phenomenon, the general characteristics of the metaverse and the general legal aspects in relation to this new virtual space and the way in which the use of the metaverse can impact the privacy right, as well the cha-llenges of the data protection in this new cyberspace.
