El artículo expone los principales aspectos del concepto hegeliano de especulación a lo largo del desarrollo de su sistema de filosofía, que incluyen las metáforas del espejo y la mirada, a las que alude su etimología, pero que se refieren sobre todo a su carácter transfinito, indagativo, predicativo, progresivo y unitivo. Finalmente se examina la posible actualidad filosófica del concepto, a partir del uso que hacen del mismo la dialéctica de la historia de Adorno, la concepción especulativa del lenguaje de Gadamer, la corriente del realismo especulativo y la versión del materialismo dialéctico que propone Žižek.
The article exposes the main aspects of the Hegelian concept of speculation throughout the development of his system of philosophy, which include the metaphors of the mirror and the gaze, alluded to by its etymology, but which mainly refer to its transfinite, investigative, predicative, progressive and unitive character. Finally, the possible philosophical relevance of the concept is examined, based on the use made of it by Adorno’s dialectics of history, Gadamer’s speculative conception of language, the current of speculative realism and the version of dialectical materialism proposed by Žižek
