A pesar de su enorme potencial demostrado a nivel mundial, la industria del videojuego no ha sido estudiada formalmente en el Distrito Metropolitano de Quito. Como resultado, hay una falta de conocimiento, traduciéndose en riesgo para empresas e inversores en este campo. El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la percepción sensorial de una muestra de gamers del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito que fue estratificada por plataformas digitales como Twitch, Facebook Gaming, Youtube e Instagram. Mediante una metodología descriptiva y probabilística con conveniencia de selección muestral, se identificaron preferencias y estímulos sensoriales entre los consumidores de entretenimiento y videojuegos. Revelando una experiencia integral positiva predominante mediante la Escala de Experiencias Positivas y Negativas (SPANE), además de la intensidad y frecuencia de estímulos específicos relacionados al consumo de videojuegos. El estudio demostró una alta incidencia del género masculino entre 15 y 24 años de edad, quienes dedicaban más de 3 horas hacia actividades de recreación. Se reveló la frecuencia de uso de servicios de entretenimiento como el turismo, servicios de streaming, eventos deportivos, entre otros. Así como motivaciones para el uso de videojuegos, los dispositivos electrónicos más utilizados, los lugares más frecuentados y las emociones experimentadas frente a estímulos multisensoriales.
Despite its enormous potential demonstrated worldwide, the video game industry has not been formally studied in the Metropolitan District of Quito. As a result, there is a lack of knowledge, which poses a risk for companies and investors in this field. The objective of this study was to determine the sensory perception of a sample of gamers in the Metropolitan District of Quito that was stratified by digital platforms such as Twitch, Facebook Gaming, Youtube and Instagram. Using a descriptive and probabilistic methodology with sample selection convenience, preferences and sensory stimuli were identified among consumers of entertainment and video games. Revealing a predominant positive overall experience through the Positive and Negative Experience Scale (SPANE), in addition to the intensity and frequency of specific stimuli related to video game consumption. The study showed a high incidence of males between 15 and 24 years of age, who spent more than 3 hours on recreational activities. The frequency of use of entertainment services such as tourism, streaming services, sporting events, among others, was revealed. As well as motivations for the use of video games, the most used electronic devices, the most frequented places and the emotions experienced in the face of multisensory stimuli.
