Agostina Zecca Laterza has been the librarian of the Conservatory of Music in Milan from 1964 to 2004. Her strong personality, her studies and experiences between music and librarianship, represent the figure of a “self made librarian”. In fact in Italy the profession of the music librarian is considered an atypical role. Laterza strongly contributed to musical bibliographic heritage valorization. She worked on many cataloguing projects, on user service management, and she promoted the Music database within SBN, the Italian Library Service. She edited the Italian music cataloguing rules and published important studies on the catalogue of the publisher Ricordi.
