El objetivo de este artículo es exponer las dos dimensiones que configuran el Análisis del Discurso. Una permite caracterizarlo como una perspectiva teórica, con un sesgo más o menos crítico; la otra posibilita tomarlo como una herramienta metodológica para construir, describir e interpretar datos lingüísticos. Con el fin de ejemplificar ambas dimensiones, se realiza el análisis de un texto noticioso que manifiesta la relación entre los grupos promineros y la prensa en una provincia del sur argentino. La atención está centrada en dos propiedades del texto noticioso, la narratividad y la argumentatividad, y en las representaciones sociales que este materializa.
The aim of this article is to present the two dimensions that build the discourse analysis. The first allows it to be characterized as a theoretical perspective with a less or more critical bias; the second makes it possible to use it as a methodological tool for constructing, describing and interpreting linguistic data. In order to illustrate both dimensions, an analysis is made of a news articles that show the relationship between the pro-mining groups and the press in a southern Argentine province. Attention is focused on two features of the news articles —narrative and argument— and the social representations it embodies.
