La Inspección ambiental, como parte de la actividad inspectora en general, se enmarca dentro de las medidas de protección, no solo de la legalidad vigente, sino también, sobre todo, frente al incierto futuro de nuestro planeta, actividad que es tremendamente relevante en un contexto como el actual, en el que socialmente se ha tomado conciencia, y se reclama cada vez con mayor intensidad el cuidado del medio ambiente, tanto en el ámbito nacional como internacional. Como aspectos más destacados del estudio se abordan la relevancia de la función inspectora en este tema, la intervención del Derecho comunitario en materia ambiental y de inspección, el reparto competencial entre las distintas Administraciones Públicas, el estatuto jurídico del personal inspector, y la externalización de funciones de control e inspección sobre medio ambiente.
Environmental Inspection, as part of the inspection activity in general, is framed within the protection measures, not only of the current legislation, but also, above all, given the uncertain future of our planet, an activity that is tremendously relevant in a context such as the current one, in which social awareness has been raised, and protection of the environment is increasingly being demanded, both nationally and internationally. The most outstanding aspects of the study address the relevance of the inspection function in this matter, the intervention of Community Law in environmental and inspection matters, the distribution of powers between the different Public Administrations, the legal status of inspection personnel, and the outsourcing of control and inspection functions on the environment.
