La preocupación por las cuestiones ambientales es general en la actualidad, aunque también hay un debate crítico en relación con ciertos postulados. Asimismo, la alimentación y la seguridad alimentaria tienen cada vez más importancia. La relación e incidencia recíproca entre el medio ambiente y el desarrollo sostenible, por un lado, y el sector alimenticio y la seguridad alimentaria, por otro, son estrechas y se producen desde hace mucho tiempo. Esta relación tiene elementos muy novedosos en la Unión Europea, en particular últimamente. El trabajo analiza esas relaciones entre ambas materias en la Unión, tanto en los textos y documentos estratégicos, incluyendo el Pacto Verde Europeo y la Estrategia «de la granja a la mesa», como en las principales normas adoptadas, tanto en materia medioambiental como sobre alimentación y seguridad alimentaria.
Concern for environmental issues is general today, although there is also a critical debate in relation to certain postulates. Likewise, food and food security are becoming increasingly important. The reciprocal relationship and incidence between the environment and sustainable development, on the one hand, and the food sector and food security, on the other, are close and have been going on for a long time. This relationship has very new elements in the European Union, particularly lately. The work analyzes these relations between both matters in the Union, both in the strategic texts and documents, including the European Green Deal and the Strategy «from farm to table», as well as in the main regulations adopted, both in environmental matters and on food and food security.
